Words of Wisdom: Feeling vs Thinking

Sometimes, it’s hard not to viscerally react to the harsh disappointments of the everyday.

And sometimes that will require a tetanus shot

Which relates to my notion involving feeling vs thinking, which is a distinction most don’t give more consideration too. Within my own Cartesian machinations involving the metaphysics of virtual reality, it’s important to feel out a situation, but before moving on, to truly ponder on the “why” of the feeling. This helps my understanding of when I may be ruled by my own powers of irrationality and preference vs reason and critical thinking. I think it’s all too easy that most predicate themselves on a knee-jerk reactionism, where the first thing they feel is what dictates their entire standard of the moment, and little thought comes from the sensation thereafter.

I think a much more effective process is not just registering the feeling, but thinking about why the feeling is prompted, the context of what created, the realism surrounding it, and our relation to what we consider the truth of the matter, to see if there is more to the sense-data than meets the naked eye. Feeling things out from a literal standpoint is obviously unavoidable in the everyday, but feeling things out from an intuitional standpoint is far more vital in our approach to the rational considerations of not only the everyday, but our very sense of self-identity, our methods of becoming, and how we understand our relativity to the world around us.

So the next time you have a moment and want to exercise a moment of self-awareness, stop and not just feel, but think about the feeling, and really dig deep into everything behind it. The longer consideration of your visceral reaction may give you greater insight into not only how you operate, but also grant you greater wisdom in how you navigate the world around you moving forward. You might be surprised at how often you take for granted a deeper sense of cognitive capability in how you function in even the simplest of moments, and perhaps even grant you greater appreciation for yourself and reality itself in the process.

And as always, remember to take care of yourself, and others.
