Words of Wisdom: Idealizing Idleness

Sometimes, you’ve got to slow down, consider your options, and know when to let go.

Some realizations are more painful than others

Which is why the words of Wisdom for today are idealizing idleness, which might come as a shock to some of you, if you’re at all familiar with some of my own notions involving self and the everyday. While I’m a strong advocate of critical thinking, being productive, and a great work ethic, I’m also of the mind people not only deserve a break, but benefit from sometimes not doing anything at all, in order to help complete the circuit of “becoming” that is inherent in self-actualization.

See, much like the body needs rest, generally of course, but more so after a work out for muscle recovery, so too does our spirit and mind need a chance at refreshment, so that we are able to process what we’ve experienced in the recent past. Not only that, but too often, too many of us are so busy with being busy, we lose sight of the notion of the freedom inherent in being able to commit to doing nothing at all, and the imbued value of simply ceasing activity all together. When we are able to relax, let go of the idea we need to always be doing something to justify our existence, and allow ourselves the freedom of idleness, we begin an invaluable process involving the idealization of idleness that has a giving grace to it unrivaled in its power, and near infinite in its grandeur as a gesture, becoming one of the greatest gifts one can give oneself in the process.

All of this of course is piggy backing off my notions related to yesterday’s post of Marxist Alienation involving Silksong’s difficulty leve, and I have plenty more to say on the matter, with a further breakdown of introspection related to the inversion of ideas on the matter, and a further deep dive into the feelings of alienation to follow suit. Much like you, I’ve got a long list of things I need to get done. But for now? I’m going to give myself a little little grace, just like you should, and embrace the idea of a breather before barreling ahead at full tilt.

And keep that notion in mind moving forward, too. The next time you think you absolutely need to be doing something to justify your own existence; invert your thinking, and revel in the power of your freedom to simply do nothing at all. Your mind and body will thank you.

As always, take care of yourself, and others
