Time keeps on slipping…
…into itself?
That’s why today’s post is more of a bite sized tidbit, as it were, best laid plans and all that sometimes leaves one up the creek and without a paddle in the temporal department. I thoroughly suggest to anyone reading this that if you wish to get a new appreciation for just how short a 24 hour cycle is, do so by committing yourself to a creative project that has to be publicly updated everyday, and you will rediscover the definition of the word demanding in a profoundly new, albeit educationally frustrating manner.
Words of wisdom from a well taught individual
While this post isn’t an attempt to address any major news items of the day, I will say that it looks to be a bloodbath over in the Microsoft camp, as MS lays off thousands which will no doubt effect countless innocent workers. Other more capable writers than me have already written up incredibly sobering takes on the matter and I don’t have much to add to the tragic reality aside from my condolences.
On a note with more levity, I looked back at my last “To Do List” post, and realized how inaccurately named it was, as I ended up not doing much to fill the list out at all, which as I’m sure I don’t need to point out, is deeply antithetical to the whole idea. I did get the platinum trophy for Astro’s Playroom, and a great article came out of the experience, with a similar outcome involving Doom: The Dark Ages, now plowing through Nightmare mode with reckless abandon, but Elden Ring: Nightreign and Rift of the Necrodancer have barely received any love whatsoever from me. I haven’t even started To a T yet, which was an indie game I was looking forward to way back last year, when ATE was still in it’s 1.0 phase, when it seemed like anything was terrifyingly possible, including the notion of just how uncomfortable/aroused I could make the audience with constant illusions to Scooby Doo erotica.
It was a hard time for all involved: some, harder than others
To wit; I’m thinking I should maybe change my approach somewhat moving forward (not in reference to the Scooby Doo stuff, of course), as I have been a big proponent of non-bingeing media, for a myriad of reasons, but the last few times I saw an extreme amount of success in getting shit done, was indeed a grotesque excess of fixation on a title for what ended up being a grotesque amount of time. At the very least, I purchased the Gex Trilogy, and all three games are straightforward enough that getting through them should be a breeze, and may be a good litmus test for the whole bingeing experiment.
How I hope I *don’t* look by the time the Gex 3 credits roll
I have some interesting ideas on the back burner right now, and I’m excited to develop them for you, as well as get back into the nitty gritty of gaming analysis and deconstruction of game design with more pomp and circumstance. While I do enjoy reporting about the gaming news, getting deep into the weeds of any gaming experience remains my authentic fancy and focus. Discussing the metaphysics of virtual reality, doing deep dives into the mechanics and machinations of the games, and observing the philosophies behind the concepts of what brings the ideas to life are my true bread and butter, and I feel a bit peckish as of late.
Time to eat.
