Every new day I read a fresh headline, reminds me of the petulant misery the human race is capable of.
I would just greatly prefer if the human collective would spend just a teensy-tinsy bit more time actually giving a shit about rationality over desire for a brief moment
The weekends are usually when there exist longer stretches of time for me to focus on pushing through any given game I have interest in, but as I have detailed randomly over the past couple of weeks, due to extenuating circumstances that have put me in a mild funk, I’ve mostly just been pushing through some extra ZZZ’s as of late, as I all I seem to want to do is sleep a gratuitous amount when not engaging with a busy schedule. Which, don’t get me wrong, I love the piss out of naps, but my hunger to play through and master games is usually gargantuan…
A Galactus size hunger, if you will
I also have to stop myself from falling back on old staples on the regz, as picking up an old Metroidvania I’ve already feasted upon is never not tempting, among other favs. This is one off the reasons I’m pumped for the end of the month, as the remake for MGS3 will give me ample reason to justify going back through an old fav, as Snake Eater’s remake is right around the corner, and may be one of Kojima’s strongest games he’s ever worked on. The irony of ATE is one of flippancy, as I tend to avoid games I think I may love, or old games I’m quite partial to, as I’m of the mind a fresh take will not only provide more compellingly raw feedback, but games I am not endeared to, and may even have active problems with while playing through them, will likely yield more interesting writing.
How I haven’t played through Death Stranding 2 yet given that logic is an unfathomable perplexity, I grant you
One of my eternal consternations with the industry, and most certainly with any writing/press aspect of it, relates to the reliance of grasping at straws and clutching low hanging fruit; too many rely too heavily on the notionality of both fandoms and enthusiasts taking charge over rationality; the inmates running the asylum, so to speak, and has a tendency of making everything feel too homogenized, praisey-sing-song-samey, and perhaps even a bit inbred when it comes to the inappropriately flirtatious and downright warped sense of twisted love some have in defending the more problematic issues with the medium as a whole. Love goggles and rose tinted glasses are definitely a reality many deal with, but don’t necessarily contend with.
I just appreciate a more realistic perspective, you know?
Not that I’m surprised by this happening in the least bit: groups of repressed nerds being overly excited for their favorite security blankets they can flaunt to the random masses, and an exploitative industry just looking to take advantage of underprivileged and highly insecure shoot marks to do their bidding? Sounds like a capitalistically driven shallow consumerism to me. My only desire as a horrified bystander is to attempt to balance out the equation, by helping to inject some god damn reason into this chaotically toxic, co-dependent abusive relationship, amidst the obsessively driven madness that begets the sad standards of the weary and the lost.
The kind of folk this image unironically excites
As an admirer of the metaphysical and the metaphoric, my propensities tend towards a queer inversion of the normal perversions, as I continue to advocate thinking with the heart and feeling with the brain, though it takes a special kind and a rare creature to pull off such a rare feat. Choosing the hard way was always my forte, and I continue to reverberate echoes from the past and the great minds that helped to create them, when I espouse the notion: when the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.
So get weird, or die trying.
