Doom: Going To Hell For Mental Health Reasons

Try as I might, I am not always able to clear my head to get a full fledged article out in the time I have allotted to me in a given night, a reality I’ve had to deal with recently. Between a full time job, taking care of my cat, chores around the apartment, exhausted from exercise, and being flat out broke, there is usually a lot to deal with on my plate even before I have to come up with a good idea for a write up at a moment’s notice, even when I have a game as engaging as Doom: The Dark Ages to write about.

You know it’s bad when even the demons are worried about your mental health

However, and in spite of a crunched schedule, I knew it would be for the best to take a deep breath, brush myself off, and put the few minutes I had into a little romp into my safe space, which at the current moment is hell itself, to try to clear the mind a little. Even if what I wrote about ended up being the bright flames of eternal damnation lighting up my face, or the visceral horror of hordes of demons fighting tooth and claw to end my very existence, I’d at least feel somewhat at home in a familiar safe space, as I splattered demon guts all over the place, in a mindful effort to grant myself a moment of solace in the name of maintaining my mental health.

So cheers to you, hell, the torture of the everyday just wouldn’t be the same without you.
